Blue Chintz Whale Brooch
This little guy has a bit of a story…
I hadn’t made a brooch before, but I was looking at a broken china saucer in Sampson Smith’s Old Royal Vintage Blue Chintz. I can’t quite explain why… but it just said it had to be a whale. Maybe it’s the contrast between a whale and the ditsy flower design, I really don’t know, but it did turn out to be exactly as I hoped. You can’t see well from the photos, but the end of his tail flicks up as it just crossed the edge of a curve – another little detail that worked well and gives more character.
The brooch has a sterling silver brooch pin on the back where you can also see some of the back stamp printing.
Right now, he’s the only one – and I’m really fond of him.
